Karhu developed the first patented “Air Cushion” midsole system (1976) for its running shoes. In the early 90s, Karhu modernized the logo to fit the era.

 In the 80s, Karhu partnered with the University of Jyvaskyla and developed the “Fulcrum” technology, which is still used in the Performance running collection.

 The Karhu Albatross, first released in 1982, quickly became a popular running model. The double soaring birds were first widely seen in a television advertisement. The rainbow stripe design officially became known as the “Team College” logo.
